Lucky attendees of the D23 Expo in Anaheim got the very first look at actual footage from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The stars of the film, Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie, were both on deck to present the exclusive sneak peek at the eagerly anticipated new Marvel movie.

The footage shown at the Disney Expo not only showed the Avengers team duking it out against each other, but also revealed some of the other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who will be choosing sides in the war of good guys vs. good guys.

At the forefront of the Civil War are Captain America and Iron Man who, just like in the comic book series where the script drew its material from, are on opposite ends of the debate between having a registration act of some form for people with super powers.

Captain America, jaded and fed up with S.H.E.I.L.D's and other government agencies' involvement in numerous cover-ups and conspiracies, does not want to have restrictions put on how heroes like himself save the world.

But Tony Stark reminds his friend and co-Avenger, that if "we have no boundaries, we're no better than the bad guys."

On Cap's side are Black Widow, The Falcon and Scarlett Witch, who help him fend off the movie's villain, Crossbones.

The footage also shows the Captain being helped by Ant Man, after an initial geek-out meeting ("I know you know a lot of super people, so thinks for thanking of me! Uh... thanks for thinking of me," he stammers to say), to find Bucky in a bunker, struggling to remember who he was. Footage later on shows him fighting well and good alongside his best friend against Iron Man.

Among those on Iron Man's side of the fence include his longtime friend and ally War Machine and Hawkeye. Arguably, the two Avengers who have the most history with S.H.E.I.L.D together are at odds with their decisions to go on opposing teams and Black Widow asks Hawkeye, "Are we still friends?" to which he replies, "Depends how hard you hit me."

Excitement was high over the action scenes and characters revealed in this clip of Captain America: Civil War screened during D23. The full movie is set to hit theatres on May 6, 2016.
