Samsung unveiled two new phablets last week, and while the Galaxy Note 5 is receiving some positive press due to many new features not previously seen in the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, meanwhile, is getting a lot of flak for being just a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Is the new smartphone really just a bigger copy of its predecessor? In many ways, yes, it is, but there are also a few key difference that might be the deciding factor for people with premium tastes.

The most obvious difference is the size of the devices. While Samsung kept the S6 Edge's display down to a more "normal" 5.1 inches, the S6 Edge+, as its name already implies, is more than half an inch bigger at 5.7 inches. Naturally, the dimensions are also different, with the S6 Edge+ longer and wider by a few millimeters. At 153g, the S6 Edge+ is also heavier than the S6 Edge, which tips the scale at 132g. Surprisingly, the new phablet is actually slimmer than the smaller smartphone by 0.1mm.

Because of the difference in display size, the two devices also have different pixel densities, even though they have the same Quad HD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This means they both have the same number of pixels, but the S6 Edge, having a smaller screen space, has more pixels to distribute per inch than the bigger S6 Edge+. Not that the difference will be noticeable, though. Any average person looking at the displays of both smartphones will say that they both look stunning, despite their differences.

Another difference is the amount of memory Samsung placed in each device. While both smartphones are powered by the same 64-bit, octa-core Exynos 7420, there's an ever-so-slight difference in performance because of the 4GB RAM found in the S6 Edge+. It's just 1GB higher than the 3GB RAM of the S6 Edge, but this 1GB difference could be all you really need to go for the S6 Edge+. Not that the performance of the S6 Edge is to be frowned upon. Both smartphones constantly one-up each other, as well as the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Active and Galaxy S6, in benchmark results, and real-world results will probably show a similar tug-of-war between which one performs better.

There is also one notable difference in terms of storage sizes, which could be the deal-breaker you're looking for. The S6 Edge+ does not have a 128GB variant, and for users who are keen on having all that storage for all their apps, music, photos and other files, there really is no other choice but to get the S6 Edge.

Lastly, the S6 Edge+ has a bigger 3,000mAh battery than the S6 Edge, which touts a 2,500mAh battery. The phablet also supports fast wireless charging, which claims to reach a 100 percent charge in less than two hours. Meanwhile, the S6 Edge also supports fast charging and wireless charging, but not fast wireless charging.

And if all these sound like very small difference to you, the decision could simply just boil down to the price of the devices. Naturally, the newer, bigger S6 Edge+ starts at a higher price of $768 for the 32GB version, while the S6 Edge is available for $672 for the same storage size and is actually up for grabs for a discounted price from some sellers.

Besides the features mentioned above, the S6 Edge+ and S6 Edge have pretty much similar specs and features, as detailed below.
