Samsung is bringing new software features to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which include improved user interface, Apps Edge and more. All of these are native to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ that was released only recently.

Samsung unveiled two devices at a media event on Aug. 13: the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, the company's latest phablet flagship. The company touts the newly announced devices as being equipped with a bunch of new software features. Among the most prominent ones are Vacuum Tube Amp Pro, Samsung Pay, UHQ upscaler, and Apps Edge.

The company is currently rolling out a new update to its older phones in South Korea. Fans of Samsung, who are drooling over the new software features found in the Galaxy S6 Edge+, can expect to see the same features rolling out in their devices. This means that their phones will also be capable of making wireless payments and enjoy visual and audio improvements.

Other features that they can expect are tweaked icons and the overall UI, to keep them in parallel with the newer models, and the addition of live YouTube broadcasting, which eliminates the need to use Periscope for those who are keen on viewing live broadcasts on their devices.

While the software update is absolutely free, some of the features have been excluded in the transition. One example is the inability to save images in RAW format. This type of image access can be very useful when one needs to do lossless editing on their files. Another is the inability to manually control the shutter speed, which could disappoint camera buffs who like to rely on their S6 and S6 Edge handsets when taking photos.

Samsung released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in March. Five months later, it unveiled the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. With only four months left in the year, it would be interesting to know if the company plans to roll out another round of software updates to its well-loved Galaxy devices.

The update is currently only available in South Korea, Samsung's home country. The new Galaxy S6 Edge+ is scheduled to be released in September. Many hope Samsung will make the update available worldwide and that other features that were left out will also be included if they decide to have another round of software upgrades.
