Samsung announced a new program that has the company looking to tempt owners of rival Apple's iPhones to switch to one of their latest flagship devices, the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+.

The initiative, named the Samsung Ultimate Test Drive, offers current iPhone owners with the chance to try out either the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 Edge+ for 30 days for only $1, with no obligation on the part of the participant to purchase one of the new Samsung devices by the end of the program.

As the promotion is especially for iPhone owners, accessing the promotion can only be done so by visiting a webpage using an iPhone.

Users that take up Samsung's offer for a 30-day test drive are given the choice of either one of the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The participant will receive the chosen device along with an activated SIM card that comes with a voice and data plan that is hosted by the current carrier of the user, whether it be Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile. Samsung will also include a cable in the test drive kit to make it easier for the user to perform file transfers into the test drive device.

According to Samsung, upon the end of the 30-day trial period, customers that decide to switch from the iPhone into a Samsung device by purchasing either the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+ will also be receiving "more love" from the company, though it is not entirely clear what that means.

Whether participants decide to switch to Samsung or not, they would have to return the test drive kit and all of its contents to Samsung, with the company shouldering all costs.

Only time will tell on how many iPhone users will participate in the Samsung Ultimate Test Drive, along with how many of the participants will actually switch from Apple's iPhones to Samsung's current Galaxy flagships.

It would greatly benefit Samsung if the promotion draws significant interest and leads to a boost in sales though, as the company has been experiencing difficulties in the harsh global smartphone market. Despite a flashy launch for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the smartphones were not able to allow Samsung to break a streak of seven consecutive quarters of declining profits.
