UK company Wileyfox is gunning for OnePlus with two Cyanogen-powered smartphones called Swift and Storm, respectively, offering good specs on a budget.

Cyanogen is increasingly growing in popularity and more devices running the OS are hitting the market, and now two new handsets from a virtually unknown OEM are ready to join the party.

Wileyfox has yet to make a name for itself on the highly-competitive smartphone market, as the company just launched its first two handsets. Although they're newcomers, however, the new Wileyfox Storm and Swift are starting to raise quite some interest and could be notable contenders in the Cyanogen-powered space.

The Wileyfox Swift smartphone comes with a 5-inch display sporting an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood, paired with Adreno 306 graphics and 2GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Wileyfox Swift include 16GB of internal storage space, microSD card support for additional memory of up to 32GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter and 4G LTE connectivity, among the highlights. The handset also features a removable 2,500 mAh battery, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE and runs CyanogenOS 12.1 on the software side, on top of Android.

The Wileyfox Storm, meanwhile, boasts a larger 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a more powerful 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood, paired with Adreno 405 graphics and 3GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Wileyfox Storm include 32GB of internal storage capacity, expandable up to 128GB via microSD, a 20-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front shooter with LED flash, 4G LTE connectivity, and a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery. Just like its smaller brother, the Wileyfox Swift also comes with dual-SIM support and runs CyanogenOS 12.1 on top of Android.

When it comes to pricing and availability, both handsets will make their retail debut soon, sporting budget-friendly price tags. The Wileyfox Swift will be available in September for £129, i.e. roughly $204, while the larger and more powerful WileyFox Storm will launch in October at a £199 price point, which translates to roughly $304.

It remains to be seen just how Wileyfox will be able to compete with other smartphone makers, but its first two handsets sound quite promising and could appeal to budget smartphone shoppers.
