A leaked photo of the purported iPhone 6s Plus' packaging has emerged online. The packaging of the upcoming smartphone suggests that the phablet will include a 2,750mAh battery.

An image posted by Chinese publication cnBeta shows an unfolded white box of the iPhone 6s Plus, which is similar to the packaging used by Apple for previous iPhones.

The packaging shows what probably looks like a gold iPhone 6s Plus with a gold Apple logo at the bottom. Per the leaked image of the iPhone 6s Plus' packaging "iPhone 6s Plus" will be written on both sides of the handset's box.

The "S" of the iPhone 6s will be written inside a square, which has been a standard feature in previous "S" model packaging. The front image of the iPhone 6s Plus depicts a wallpaper that has a black fish with golden fins.

The image itself does not seem to be digitally fiddled but the authenticity of the package is questionable.

The box of the iPhone has remained largely unchanged from 2007. The iPhone box typically includes an image of the iPhone that is contained within normally with a default home screen. The black and golden fish wallpaper has not appeared on any iOS 9 beta builds, which puts a question mark on the authenticity of the image.

Apple has also done away with writing the model name such as "5," "5s," and more on the side of its retail boxes. If the image is legit then Apple is reverting to its old writing convention. The font size at the side of the packaging also seems quite large.

If the packaging turns out to be authentic then it will be a big change for Apple's retail box designing convention.

The cnBeta report also suggests that the iPhone 6s will include a 1,715mAh battery and the iPhone 6s Plus a 2,750mAh battery, which is down from 1,810mAh and 2,910mAh battery as found in the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus respectively.

Apple has not yet confirmed an exact launch date for the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus; however, rumors suggest that it is likely that the company will unveil its next-generation iPhones at an event on September 9. iPhone lovers will have to wait until an official announcement from Apple.
