Archos – a French company that's made a name in manufacturing affordable smartphones – has been announcing upcoming releases left and right, from the Windows 10-powered Archos 50 Cesium to Archos Diamond S. The company's rollouts aren't so much about revolutionary design or software, rather focusing on devices with jam-packed features for considerably reasonable prices.

The latest addition to this upcoming family is the Archos Diamond Tab — an iPad Mini-sized tablet that doesn't take as much of a toll on your back pocket. It comes with a 7.9-inch display, a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels (324 pixels per inch), and a 7.8-mm-thick body that weighs around 360 grams.

Taking a look under the hood, you'll fine a heavy eight-core 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT8752 processor supported by 3 GB of RAM. There's also 32 GB of built-in memory and a microSD card slot. Although this is quite a lot of space for storing your media, tablet software is notorious for eating space. It runs the latest version of Google's Android software, the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The tablet also boasts 4G LTE capabilities for faster on-the-go Internet. It offers dual band Wi-Fi, which means that you can connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, in addition to being able to connect to 5 Ghz Wi-Fi for an even faster connection.

Talking about hardware, Archos Diamond Tab carries a 5-megapixel camera in the back and a 2-megapixel camera in the front, along with 720p video capabilities. It also has a 4,800 mAH battery.

While the name may suggest otherwise, the Archos Diamond Tab packs in a lot for just £180 — which is the asking price it will be going on sale for in the U.K. this coming October. Although the global release dates and prices are still unconfirmed, that price should be around $280 USD — quite a bit cheaper than its Apple competitor.

All three – the Archos Diamond Tab, Archos Diamond S smartphone and the Archos 50 Cesium – will be showcased for the first time next week at the IFA annual technology trade show in Berlin.
