In a recent move to gather ideas for the "Next Great Game," Hasbro is using a familiar technique – crowdfunding.

Just in the past year, Hasbro has turned to its audience to help get ideas for a new Monopoly board design and add a new word to the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary.

Now, in its largest crowdfuding project yet, the company is teaming up with Indiegogo to launch a call for submissions to find the next hit face-to-face party game – think Twister, Monopoly, or Trivial Pursuit.

The project website will be accepting free submissions till Sept. 30, after which judges will select and notify the five finalists. For the winners, however, this will just be the beginning, as they then prepare for the Indiegogo campaigns to go live on Oct. 30.

There is no immediate prize money for the five winning contestants, rather, another stage of crowdfunding their idea. Hasbro will use Indiegogo and its worldwide online following to help these contestants set up and gather funds for their respective pitches. After the fundraising phase concludes on Dec. 1, each game campaign will be evaluated and compared to pick one final winner on Dec. 3.

This winner or winning team (up to 4 people) will then receive $10,000 straight into their pockets from Hasbro. They also must be available to fly to Rhode Island sometime between Dec. 5 - Jan. 31, 2016, to be an active part of the game development process.

The winner will also retain ownership and intellectual property of their idea, including any and all trademarks, patents, or copyrights.
