Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation are no new names in the gaming industry, and both consoles give stiff rivalry to each other. With the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) starting on Tuesday, June 10, both the companies will enter the war zone with the launch of new games for their respective consoles.

Microsoft and Sony will be promoting their gaming consoles and looking to entice more gamers, as they unveil new game titles at the E3.

Microsoft is expected to reveal more details of its science fiction military video game "Halo 5: Guardian," which will be exclusive to the Xbox One. Microsoft is also speculated to tease some information on the next "Gears of War," another shooting game that is quite popular in the gaming industry. Visitors at the E3 Expo will also be expecting to know more about Microsoft's upcoming game "Sunset Overdriver," another shooter game that the company announced in E3 2013 and which is due for a release in 2014.

PS4 users will not be left out either as many other games are expected to showcase or launch at the E3. More details on the multi-platform game "Destiny" is expected to be revealed at the E3. Gamers will also want to get more details on PS4 games including "Uncharted 4," "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Final Fantasy XV."

Sony launched its latest PS4 and Microsoft launched its new Xbox One in November 2013. Both the companies together have sold over 12 million units of the gaming consoles after they hit the shelves. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the PS4 has sold 7 million units when compared to Xbox One, which has sold 5 million units globally since its release. The PS4 has a price tag of $399, while the Xbox has a comparatively steeper price of $499.

Reports suggest that to attract more gamers, Microsoft will launch the Xbox One for $399 at the E3. However, the $399 version of the gaming console will not include the Kinect, the motion detecting sensor. At the launch of the Xbox One, Microsoft announced that the Kinect was an integral part of the gaming console and gives an improved gaming experience to users. However, to compete with the PS4, the company may have had no choice but to omit the Kinect and reduce the price of the gaming console to appeal to more gamers.

Sony is also reported to be working on a virtual reality headset, similar to the Oculus VR, and the Japanese company may showcase the headset at the E3 Expo. Sony is also expected to announce more details of the PlayStation Now, video game streaming and service.

It's a war zone between the two gaming consoles, and gamers will have to wait just a bit more to check out what is on offer by Microsoft and Sony. However, with the success of Mario Kart 8, gamers at the E3 may not easily forget about the Nintendo Wii U, launched in November 2012, which failed to attract many customers.
