As if you weren't already feeling guilty for not doing enough, here comes 8-year-old programmer and entrepreneur Omkar Govil-Nair, whose Kickstarter campaign to manufacture 3D printable smartwatch kits for young (and I mean young) programmers has already passed its goal amount of $15,000.

The O Watch is an Arduino Zero-based, customizable smartwatch kit that has a kid-friendly '90s look to it. The watch kit is targeted toward children who are amateurs in programming and engineering, as well as to maker-spaces in general — encouraging hands-on participation.

The kit provides not only the components the make the smartwatch – which include a 3D printed watch case, a color OLED screen with an Arduino Zero processor, 140 mAH battery and a band kit – but also an easy-to-follow set of instructions, and access to a kid-friendly website with easy tutorials, examples and a community for sharing your creations. There is also a Sensor Kit, which includes a stackable sensor board with an integrated 3-axis compass, a temperature/humidity sensor and a barometric pressure sensor.

Omkar's creation was exhibited at the 2015 Bay Area Maker Faire, and it will also be seen at the upcoming World Maker Faire in New York.

A pledge of $69 will get you a kit for the watch, which will be available in four colors: orange, yellow, pink and blue. According to the Kickstarter, the watch kit will be ready to ship starting February of next year.
