Get ready: the magically inclined member of the Avengers, Doctor Strange, is once again getting his own comic with the impending release of Marvel's Doctor Strange #1.

The new flagship series starring everyone's favorite former neurosurgeon-cum-crystal-ball(er) is written by Jason Aaron (Thor) and illustrated by Chris Bachalo (Avengers) and Kevin Nowlan (X-Men: First Class). Nowlan first got his start on the Doctor Strange series in 1983 as the interior illustrator for Doctor Strange #57: "Get All My Disciples Before Me!"

The main storyline in the issue is by Aaron and Bachalo, with an additional, separate five-pager by Aaron and Nowlan, which sets up some integral events that will purpotedly play a prominent role in the new series.

Doctor Strange #1 will be available for purchase on Oct. 7.

Here is Marvel's official synopsis:

From inside his Sanctum Sanctorum - the Master of the Mystic Arts defends the Marvel Universe from any and all supernatural threats. [...] But a dark new power is rising. One that will have repercussions for all magic users. The threat is growing, and Strange knows he won't be powerful enough to stop it. If he is to have any kind of hope, it'll take a new kind of Sorcerer Supreme. Because all magic comes with a price, and it's high time Stephen Strange balanced the scales.
