Fanboys are about to lose their minds as the director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, dissed Marvel's Ant-Man. It's not a dirty diss, but it should still cause a stir.

Zack Snyder, director of the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, was shedding light on the difficult process of fleshing out the DC Extended Universe, and a few questions and answers arose.

First, he talked about what Steven Spielberg said about the superhero genre eventually going the way of the Western genre. For those who are too young to understand, the Western movie genre is huge, and it was all about men on horses shooting guns.

It's basically a dead duck today, with only a few hits here and there. The last known hit film in the genre was Django Unchained.

Snyder stated that the DC films will stand the test of time, and we're hoping he's right about that.

He then had the following to say about Ant-Man:

"They're not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man-not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?"

We're still not sure why he chose to throw Ant-Man under the bus. Yes, it wasn't a great film, in fact, one of the weakest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A movie that feels like almost every other Marvel branded movie, but it wasn't that bad, was it?

Snyder also made it clear that Christopher Nolan set the bar for the DC Extended Universe with the Dark Knight trilogy. He also said he is trying to emulate that, but in his own way, naturally.

This should be clear enough how realistic Snyder and Warner Bros. are aiming to flesh out the DC Extended Universe. These movies are going to be serious though we are hoping some will have a lighter tone. For example, the Flash and Shazam should have a lighter tone, yet still grounded as best as possible.
