The Dark Theme, which was added as an experimental feature by Google into the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Developer Preview, will not be making it to the final build of the upcoming latest version of the mobile operating system.

The Dark Theme is no longer a part of the second developer preview for the operating system once simply known as Android M.

Google's new Material Design concept required Android to use lighter themes more, with the Light Theme being easier on the eyes of the user. The option can be selected though the Settings option of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but the Dark Theme has been removed as an option to the disappointment of some users.

Upon seeing that the feature was not included in the second developer preview for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users took to the Google Developers forums and requested that the Dark Theme be brought back to the operating system. The request was also for the black colors to be applied to the title bar, app drawer and notification center for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

A member of the development team responded to the request by stating that the Dark Theme will not be a found in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, the developer aid that the feature will be considered for future released of the upcoming mobile operating system.

The Dark Theme was featured in demonstrations of Android 6.0 Marshmallow at the I/O developer conference that was held earlier in the year. It was not revealed why Google decided to take out what could have been a useful feature for the mobile operating system, with users that were looking forward to the feature having no choice but to either hope for Google to decide to bring the Dark Theme or wait for a third-party app that can do so.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which will become the latest major update to Google's mobile operating system upon its official release, will add several new features and improvements for Android devices, including on apps permissions, fingerprint scanner support and RAM management.

One of the major issues that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will fix is the mobile radio active bug that has been causing severe battery drain issues on different devices. The bug has been present ever since the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
