The Microsoft Lumia 950, codenamed "Talkman," and Lumia 950 XL, codenamed "Cityman," could make their official debut on Oct. 10.

Rumors about Microsoft's next-generation flagship smartphones have been flying high and low for a good while now, and it seems they're getting closer to launch. Microsoft chose to focus most of its efforts on the entry-level, affordable segment of the smartphone market for a good part of 2015, and so far the company has not launched any flagship Lumia with high-end specs.

That's all about to change soon as Microsoft is widely expected to launch two high-end flagships this year: the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. If the latest whispers turn out to be accurate, Microsoft will unleash its new Talkman and Cityman flagships in the first half of October.

Recent rumors already hinted at an October release for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, but now we have a specific launch date. In a new report, trusted tipster @EvLeaks, or Evan Blass, just revealed an Oct. 10 release date for the upcoming Lumia models.

The upcoming Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are expected to come with powerful specs and features all around, but it remains unclear just what Microsoft has planned in terms of design. While some reports suggested that the next flagship Lumia units would boast a premium all-metal design, the latest reports again hinted at polycarbonate bodies.

When it comes to specs, meanwhile, the Lumia 950 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display with a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, while the larger Lumia 950 XL will feature a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Both flagships are expected to pack 3GB of RAM, 20-megapixel PureView rear cameras and 5-megapixel selfie cams. The Lumia 950 XL is further expected to boast advanced biometric technology in the form of an iris scanner. Both devices will rock Windows 10 Mobile.

It's all still in the rumor state at this point, but if Evan Blass turns out to be accurate and Microsoft does indeed plan to take the wraps off its new Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL on Oct. 10, we'll soon get the official scoop straight from the source. In the meantime, treat all leaks accordingly.
