The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red recently took to Twitter to deny rumors that the company may soon get bought out by Electronic Arts (EA).
The rumors about the company selling out to EA began after DSOGaming spoke to a CD Projekt Red employee, who revealed that representatives from the larger company were recently present at CD Projekt Red's office.
"I'm employee of CDProjekt Red and I have some bad news to share with you," said the CD Projekt Red employee to DSOGaming. "Our management is probably talking with Electronic Arts about potential take over. Electronic Arts representatives are currently visiting our studio and meeting with top management. We are not going to release any game soon, so for sure it's not about any publishing deal, so the only possible reason for EA guys being here is that they want to buy us."
Of course, that's not the only reason why EA representatives could have visited the developer, and at that, the developer told website Develop in July that companies popping by with an interest in acquiring them happens on a "regular basis."
On Monday, CD Projekt Red Marcin Momot took to Twitter to dismiss the rumors outright. In his tweets, Momot stated that he spoke with Marcin Iwinski, one of CD Projekt Red's co-founders, who knew of no discussions happening with EA about an acquisition.

CD Projekt Red is an independently owned game development studio with fans who would not find an EA acquisition amusing, so this is good news. The company's latest game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released this year, was a hit with both critics and gamers alike. The game's latest expansion, "Hearts of Stone" comes out October 13.
Next up for CD Projekt Red is Cyberpunk 2077, although the developer has stated that for now, it's focused solely on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
