It looks like Paul Monroe, a gay character better known to The Walking Dead comic book fans as "Jesus," is coming to TV. Comic writer Robert Kirkman calls Monroe one of his favorite characters.

Jesus is a character introduced to The Walking Dead in issue #91, as a skilled warrior, brilliant tactician and a survivalist. Like Michonne, he's well equipped to live in the new world created by the zombie apocalypse. He quickly becomes a trusted ally and advisor to Rick Grimes and an invaluable member of his group. He's also very good at escaping from captivity.

He gets the nickname "Jesus" after repeatedly coming to the rescue of Rick and his people, who come to see him as a "savior." The name sticks thanks to his long hair and thick beard.

Entertainment Tonight spotted an unknown actor with an incredible resemblance to the comic book character in an exclusive photo it acquired from the set. In the picture, our potential Paul "Jesus" Monroe can be seen in a casual pose alongside Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and others. His hair, beard and beanie make him a dead ringer for Jesus.

With Season 6 just weeks away, this news should get the show's passionate fans more excited than ever. But who's the mystery actor under Monroe's hat? We'll have to wait and see.

Any guesses?

Season six of The Walking Dead premieres Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
