Sometimes when Apple rolls out with a software update, it takes time for users to actually get around to updating.

Well, this clearly isn't one of those times.

Apple is reporting that iOS9 is the fastest adopted software that the company has ever experienced, with upwards of 50 percent of devices already running the latest operating system. This is excellent news, considering it's right in time for the tech giant's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to hit stores Friday (September 25).

"Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive, we can't wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers' hands starting this Friday," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said in a press release statement. "iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple's history."

Boasted as the world's most advanced mobile operating system, iOS 9 hit the 50-percent adoption mark over the weekend Saturday (September 19) just three days after its September 16 release. In comparison, it took iOS 8 nearly eight days for 50 percent of Apple users to update to. New features included in iOS 9 include a modified Proactive Siri, redesigned Notes app and improvements to battery life and Apple Maps' transit directions.

iOS 9 also requires less space to install and includes advanced security features to protect your devices. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available for $0 down with 24 monthly payments starting at $27 and $31, respectively, from Apple's retail stores.
