Samsung has announced that the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab S tablets will go on sale June 27. The 8.4-inch slate will retail for $399.99 and the 10.5-inch model will be $499.99.

When Samsung officially unveiled its latest flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S 8.5 and 10.5, the company said that the tablets would be available on store shelves sometime in July. The company began taking pre-orders for both tablets on June 13.

Samsung has just announced that the Galaxy Tab S will ship sooner than originally expected. Interested customers will be able to purchase both tablets via Samsung.com, Amazon, Best Buy, Sears and other retailers. Customers can also go to select Samsung Experience Shops located in Best Buy stores to take the tablets for a test spin before purchasing. Samsung will release LTE-equipped Galaxy Tab S models later this year.

"Building on the heritage of the Galaxy S smartphone line, the Galaxy Tab S line delivers on our commitment to bring meaningful innovation that our customers care most about," said Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America and Samsung Electronics North America Headquarters. "We know consumers want the best screen when purchasing a tablet, and as an undisputed leader in display technology, we've brought our industry-leading Super AMOLED screen to the Tab S for an unrivaled viewing experience in both connected and Wi-Fi options."

Its 7,900-mAh-battery promises long battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 features an 8.4-inch WQXGA 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 360 pixels per inch (ppi). It's running Android 4.4 KitKat and Magazine UX.
