The Christmas shopping season is a-comin', and for gamers looking to upgrade to a new-generation console, it's probably the best time of the year to do it.

Not only do consoles drop in price near the holidays, they also tend to bundle in some terrific extras. Additional items like a second controller or other peripheral are common, as are one or more games. Microsoft is doing just that with a bundle announced today targeted squarely at fans of Lara Croft.

The Xbox One Tomb Raider bundle includes an Xbox One that's upgraded to 1 TB of storage from the standard 500 GB, along with a standard black controller. Bundled in are digital copies of both Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and the new game Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as a "Tactical Survival Kit" pack for Rise that gives Lara a new outfit and weapon. As you may recall, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive for Xbox One, with a PlayStation 4 version not expected until mid to late 2016.

The bundle will sell this November for $399, exclusively in Microsoft Stores and Best Buy.

It looks like a nice bundle, though we're disappointed that the Xbox One and controller shells are standard, instead of customized with a unique Tomb Raider look. An Elite controller would have been nice, too.

2015 might feature the most number of console bundles ever. Xbox One alone has now announced five bundles, including the Tomb Raider edition. Others are themed around Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and an "Xbox One Elite" console bundle.

More Xbox One bundles are expected to be announced by Microsoft later this week.
