OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei covets an internship at Samsung. The South Korean company has yet to reply.

The industry newcomer became famous in 2014 when it joined the smartphone competition with its OnePlus One, drawing remarkable attention. However, it was neither the OnePlus One nor its specs that got stuck in everyone's mind. It was its unavailability despite going official.

That wasn't the only problem that the company had. OnePlus committed many mistakes when it went against the traditional selling method, implementing a tedious invitation system and ladies-first gimmick. In the end, only Chinese were able to freely purchase OnePlus smartphones.

The next-generation OnePlus 2, nicknamed the 2016 flagship killer, seemed like it would be a successful tipping point at the time. However, it did not live up to its reputation. Aside from availability issues again, it lacked functionalities, such as a fast-charging feature and NFC, and stability, as it had an Oxygen OS with countless bugs and a malfunctioning camera software.

"We are a growing company facing high demand from around the world. It's not easy to make a smartphone; it's also not easy getting it from our factory into your hands as quickly as you deserve," the OnePlus co-founder said.

Despite all the grave errors OnePlus committed, Pei reacted unexpectedly. He wants an internship from Samsung. Unlike some companies that hold its consumers liable for their products' flaws, Pei apologized sincerely, and he is dedicated to learning from his mistakes.

Samsung has been present in the market for more than 75 years, and it has been doing well, running neck and neck in the frontlines with other popular brands such as Apple and Sony. The company also caters on an international scale, which impressed the OnePlus co-founder. Also, Pei thinks that Samsung is the perfect place to learn more about the industry he is deeply involved with.

As such, he posted an open-letter proposal to Samsung in his blog.

"So, Samsung, today I have a proposal for you: let me be your intern. Seriously," Pei wrote.
