If you like Samsung's high-resolution AMOLED displays but would like a pure android experience on your smartphone, the Nexus 6P may be the perfect choice.

Google unveiled its latest Nexus smartphones a couple of days ago, introducing the LG-made Nexus 5X and the more powerful Nexus 6P made in collaboration with Huawei.

In a Reddit AMA, the Nexus team has now revealed more intriguing information about the handsets. The team discussed various aspects of both Nexus smartphones, but we'll focus on the Nexus 6P in this article.

First of all, the "P" in the smartphone's name stands for "Premium," which cannot be denied. The Nexus 6P is indeed a premium device, rocking powerful specs and arriving as Google's first Nexus smartphone to boast a full-metal design.

The display of the Nexus 6P has also raised plenty of interest, and not just due to its resolution. The Nexus team has now revealed that it used a Samsung AMOLED panel for the Huawei-made Nexus phablet, fine-tuning it for the best viewing experience.

"It has a Samsung WQHD AMOLED panel. We have spent a lot of time tuning the white-point and color gamut for these panels — hope you will enjoy the accuracy of the display," noted Hiroshi Lockheimer of the Nexus team.

When asked whether it was a new-generation Samsung AMOLED panel or an older model, Lockheimer revealed that the Nexus 6P boasts the latest-generation panel from Samsung.

"One of things we deeply care for is the quality and accuracy of the display through which all of us connect with the stuff we care about," Lockheimer said. "We created a very tight spec (white-point temperature, delta-E variance, color-space accuracy, etc) for the 6P WQHD AMOLED panel, so it was important that we use the most cutting edge panel technology available."

Specs-wise, the Google Nexus 6P made in collaboration with Huawei features a 5.7-inch Samsung WQHD AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection for extra scratch resistance, a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 graphics, 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter.

Other specs include a 3,450 mAh battery, 32 GB/ 64 GB/ 128 GB of internal storage space, USB Type-C for fast charging, dual front speakers, LTE Cat. 6 and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, among the highlights. As expected, the Nexus 6P runs the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
