Hope you've got some free space on your hard drive. You're going to need it.

When the Star Wars Battlefront open beta kicks off one week from today, it's going to require 11GB of space on the drives of PC gamers. Console users, aka those who intend to play the beta on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, will need about 7GB of free space.

In both cases, all those gigabytes will be downloads over your Internet connection, so be prepared to settle in for a lengthy wait. PC gamers have a distinct advantage here, as EA Games is allowing PC users to pre-load the beta software beginning at 1:00 A.M. GMT on October 7.

When the game launches in November, players will be able to take control of major Star Wars characters after hitting a certain kill count threshold. EA says that Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are being included in the beta, where the most skilled will get a chance to play as.

Star Wars Battlefront is a multiplayer-only shooter set amid the greatest battles from the original Star Wars trilogy. It goes on sale November 17, 2015.
