On Supernatural, the Winchester brothers are no strangers to darkness, death or blood. However, season 11 of the series promises more darkness than fans have seen yet.

A new promotional trailer recently released indicates that in season 11, it's not just the Darkness that the Winchesters face this season, but also death.

At the end of the Supernatural season 10 finale, not only did Dean (Jensen Ackles) kill Death himself, but Castiel (Misha Collins) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) cast a spell that removed the Mark of Cain from Dean's arm. However, that spell unleashed the Darkness across the world, leaving everyone to pick up the pieces in season 11.

Things seem so bad in the new season that even the great witch and mother to the King of Hell, Rowena (Ruth Connell), asks "What new hell has Dean Winchester unleashed upon the world?"

While classic folk song "O, Death" plays in the background, this video teases what Supernatural fans can expect this season: so far, things look really bad for the Winchesters. The situation also doesn't seem much better for Castiel, shown here hooked up to some weird contraption with blood streaming down his face.

Ackles directed the third episode of season 11. Appropriately titled "The Bad Seed," the episode focuses on Rowena trying to gather her power to protect herself from the Winchesters, while Sam and Dean search for a baby. Meanwhile, Castiel tries to recover while Crowley (Mark Sheppard) does what he always does: tries to figure out how to use the Darkness for his own selfish purposes.

However, longtime fans of the series might be most excited about the fourth episode of Supernatural's 11th season because that one is all about the car the Winchesters drive: the classic 1967 Impala.

"It's all about the Impala," said Padalecki to The Christian Post. "We've had this third lead character for 10 seasons strong and, we're not revealing a personality, but we see just how much a part of Winchesters' lives it is ... You kind of see the Impala in work in all these scenes from seasons past where we haven't necessarily know[n] where it is or known how it got there. You see just how crucial a character is."

Supernatural season 11 premieres on the CW on Oct. 7.
