Sure, Deadpool died a few months back — but did you really think that would stop him from getting his own book again?

Marvel announced on Wednesday that everyone's favorite Merc with a Mouth would be getting his own series once again: for the fourth time, Deadpool #1 will be hitting newsstands later this year. Set eight months after the end of Marvel's current Secret Wars crossover, Wade Wilson suddenly finds himself surrounded by throngs of screaming fans — why or how this happened is unclear, but it's definitely a first for Deadpool. As if that wasn't enough, it seems that Deadpool is finally an Avenger... whether that lasts for more than a few issues remains to be seen.

Considering the character's popularity, it's not all that surprising that Deadpool is getting another solo series. This latest run will be Volume #4, and then there's the numerous side-series that have popped up over the years: Deadpool Team-Up, Cable & Deadpool, Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth... and that's not even counting the seemingly endless supply of miniseries.

And, as with any major series launch, there's a slew of variant covers on the way: aritsts like Katie Cook, Kris Anka and Kamome Shirahama are giving fans a few wildly different looks at good old Wade Wilson.

From Marvel:

"He's annoying, he's dangerous and he smells terrible. But the public loves him! You heard right — Wade Wilson is the world's most popular superhero! Take that, Spidey! Today, Marvel is pleased to present your new look at DEADPOOL #1, the new ongoing series from fan-favorites Gerry Duggan and Mike Hawthorne! The Merc with a Mouth is now the Man With The Fans, and Wade is loving every second of it. Not to mention he's an Avenger now. Yes, we're serious.

"But what happened in the eight months since Secret Wars to make him so popular? We're not telling here! It's Wade's world and we're just living in it. So be there for the start of his most successful adventure yet when DEADPOOL #1 crashes comic shops this November!"

Deadpool #1 goes on sale November 4.
