Samsung is prepping a new budget-friendly smartphone, the Galaxy J3, to entice consumers.

The South Korean company launched its 4.7-inch Galaxy J2 smartphone a few months ago and leaks suggest that the successor of the smartphone is in the pipeline.

The Galaxy J3 sporting the model number SM-J3109 was espied lurking on the GFXBench benchmark site per a WinFuture report. However, GFXBench seems to have deleted the device from its database.

Nevertheless, the same model was spotted on yet another benchmark site - Geekbench. The upload date for the SM-J3109's listing is as recent as Oct. 8, suggesting that the launch of the device is not too far away.

According to the listings, the Samsung Galaxy J3 smartphone will improve on its predecessor. The device will allegedly sport a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, which is better than the 4.7-inch qHD screen on the Galaxy J2 with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Under the hood, the impending handset will house a Snapdragon 410 processor and 1GB of RAM.

The Galaxy J3 is also rumored to pack in an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP secondary camera for selfie lovers. The smartphone will also have 8GB of on-board storage. It is not known if the Galaxy J3 will offer support for expandable memory via a microSD card. However, considering the Galaxy J2 offered support for additional memory, it is likely Samsung will not forego this feature for the budget offering.

The Samsung smartphone is also anticipated to come preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop, which seems plausible as Android 6.0 Marshmallow will in all probability first make its way to top-end devices from the company.

The pricing of the Galaxy J3 is not known as of now, but considering the fact that the Galaxy J2 is priced at $125, the next-gen version will be reasonably priced.

The launch date of the Samsung smartphone remains veiled in mystery as of now.
