In defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-0, in the National League Wild-Card game on Wednesday night, the Chicago Cubs inched one step closer to ending their 107-year championship drought.

But before the Cubs begin their NL Division Series on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night, Stephen Colbert did his part to help the team boost their chances of winning their first World Series since 1908.

On Thursday night's edition of The Late Show, Colbert, who lived in Chicago for 11 years, described the 'The Curse of the Billy Goat,' a story about the Billy Goat Tavern owner who was tossed out of the 1945 World Series at Wrigley Field because the odor of the live goat he brought with him to the stadium was bothering other fans. When exiting, Tavern owner Billy Sianis was heard warning the Cubs that they will never win the World Series again...thus the curse being born.

"And ever since then, the Cubs have suffered from the 'Curse of the Goat' ... as well as the curses of bad management and unwillingness to pay for good players," Colbert sarcastically commented.

With that said, Colbert hilariously spotted an actual live baby goat sitting in his audience, proceeding to demand that the animal be removed from The Late Show set.

"You kick him out of here!" Colbert screamed, pointing at the animal. "I don't care if he has a ticket!"

With Colbert's support — combined with the 1989 Back to the Future II prediction of the Cubs winning the 2015 World Series — Hollywood is doing its part for the Cubbies to win it all. Now, it's just a matter of getting the job done.
