Guardians of the Galaxy may have been the surprise big-screen hit for Marvel, but when you really think about it, the fact that Daredevil was so successful is mind-blowing. Every attempt to bring the character and his world to the screen thus far has been mediocre at best, awful at worst - it's actually kind of surprising that Marvel was willing to go forward with anything featuring Daredevil as the lead protagonist.

Thankfully, the first season of Daredevil proved the naysayers wrong: it wasn't perfect, true, but the noir-esque style and focused storytelling ensured that Daredevil wasn't another disaster. While many of Marvel's other shows are still trying to find their footing, Daredevil managed to do so in just a single season. Obviously, Marvel wasn't going to pass up on that sort of success, and the second season of Netflix's Daredevil was greenlit.

Sadly, Daredevil won't be making its return to Netflix until sometime next year - that being said, Marvel was kind enough to drop a new trailer during its NYCC 2015 showcase. It's a short tease, there's no doubt about that, but what's here should be more than enough to get fans all riled up about the series' upcoming second season. SPOILER WARNING: a good chunk of the trailer is a recap of the first season, so if you haven't seen it already, go watch it now!

There's not much in the way of new information in the teaser, but what's there is definitely big. Seeing Elodie Yung as Elektra for the first time is amazing, but the teaser focuses more on Jon Bernthal's Punisher than anything else - could it be that Frank Castle has a bigger role in season two than most fans expected?

It's still too early to tell, and it'll likely be sometime before fans get any answers whatsoever - but either way, it's already looking like season two will expand on Daredevil's world in a few big ways.

2016 has never seemed further away - Daredevil's second season is scheduled to debut sometime next year.
