Here's some strange news out of New York Comic Con: Paul Reubens, aka Pee-wee Herman, will take on the role of Penguin's father on Fox's Gotham television series.

Reubens already played the role of Oswald Cobblepot's father in Tim Burton's 1992 Batman Returns film, with the villain portrayed by Danny DeVito. Now, Reubens will play father to the Penguin again for Robin Lord Taylor's version of the character.

For those not at New York Comic Con, Taylor released the announcement via Twitter, complete with a family portrait including himself, Penguin's mother (Carol Kane) and Reubens as Cobblepot's father.

Fox also released a Gotham sizzle reel, which included a preview of things viewers can expect from Gotham's second season. Although much of the video shows events that happened in the season's first few episodes, there are some sneak peeks of what's to come, including a really good look at Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathaniel Barnes.

The reel shows Captain Barnes' first entrance into the Gotham City Police Department and it's evident from his first words that he's there to shake things up. The reel shows his entire first scene where he starts cleaning up the police department by calling out those cops who he knows are dirty.

"My guy is sort of the cavalry, if you will, and I come in and have some pushback to replace my predecessor, who's been killed brazenly by these guys. So I'm serving sort of as a mentor to [Ben McKenzie's] character [James Gordon] as well as an antagonist of sorts because he's sliding down that slippery slope of, you know, ends-justify-the-means law enforcement, which my character is adamantly opposed to," Chiklis said during a roundtable interview at New York Comic Con. "The good news is you will find out some of the reasons why he's adamantly opposed to this way of fighting crime down the line. There's obviously some darkness in his past and in his character that makes him much more of a rounded, three-dimensional character."

The reel also shows the death of Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), a controversial move the series made this season. We also see Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) arguing with his new second personality, one that wants to have more "fun": it's likely we'll see him begin to transition to becoming the Riddler this season, especially now that he's committed his first murder.

Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) also steps up his game in the clip, telling Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) that Jim will find the person responsible for killing his parents. Wayne also explains, "sometimes the right way is the ugly way."

Gotham airs at 8 p.m. EDT Mondays on Fox.
