Verizon customers could soon be in for a pleasant surprise as the network operators may start offering 4G LTE services to its prepaid customers as well.

Thus far, Verizon has maintained that it only postpaid customers would benefit from its 4G LTE services; however, if a Droid Life report is to be believed, then all that is about to change.

According to Droid Life's sources, with the onset of July 17, Verizon is gearing up to give prepaid users, who are currently on 3G, access to its 4G LTE network. Verizon will apparently add 4G LTE access to its prepaid ALLSET plan from July 17.

Currently, the carrier's ALLSET prepaid plan comprises unlimited talk and text, as well as 500MB data for $45. In addition to this, Verizon also offers BRIDGE DATA on a monthly basis for prepaid users - 500MB, 1GB and 3GB for $5, $10 and $20, respectively.

In the event the pricing for the ALLSET plan remains unchanged, prepaid users would get 4G LTE and 3.5GB of data for $65 per month. This pricing would then be cheaper than the carrier's postpaid plans as currently, under its More Everything shared data plan, subscribers need to shell out $100 each month for a smartphone that comes with 3GB of shared data.

Droid Life's unnamed sources also reveals that once the ALLSET prepaid plan with 4G LTE goes live on July 17, subscribers will be able to sign-up for the same via Verizon's website, by calling customer care or through direct/indirect channels.

Post launch, Verizon has more up its sleeve per the site's sources as the carrier is apparently looking to sell "new postpaid 4G phones that can be activated with prepaid pricing." Subscribers will have the option of choosing from available "certified pre-owned devices" that include popular smartphones like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Alternately, customers can bring their own Verizon 4G LTE compatible device.

However, at this juncture, it is not known if the speed will be full 4G LTE or throttled. It is also not known if the Bridge Data pricing will stay the same or change before July 17 dawns on us.

If the information holds true, then Verizon will finally be joining the ranks of AT&T and Sprint. Both these U.S. carriers offer 4G LTE services on their prepaid brands. T-Mobile too offers 4G LTE on its prepaid plans since the launch of its 4G LTE in 2013.
