A report has claimed that the Facebook app for iOS is draining iPhone 6s battery life faster than any other app. This is allegedly due to the tracking feature in the app, but as it turned out, such is not the case after all.

From what we've come to understand, Apple allows users to turn off background app refresh for apps that are not from Apple. This should end the battery draining problem iPhone users are facing, but it doesn't work. Furthermore, as stated above, turning off the location tracking feature fails to resolve the issue.

"The issue is not caused by improper background location collection. We are not collecting background location on iOS unless Location Access is set to Always on your device and you have enabled Location History in the Facebook app," according to Facebook in a statement to the International Business Times.

One interesting suggestion that could explain what is going on here is the possibility of the Facebook app to be keeping silent audio in the background whenever a video is played within the app. Bear in mind that by default, video and audio play automatically over Wi-Fi and cellular, yet only some users have decided to turn this off.

Such a task can consume a lot of energy, thus draining the battery faster than usual. It is not certain if this is indeed the case, but it is something to think about until Facebook comes up with a fix as promised.

Best ways to stop Facebook from draining your battery.

Not many iPhone users will like this suggestion, but if you want to keep your battery life from kicking the bucket, listen up.

The first step, you'll need to uninstall the Facebook app, then sign in to the Facebook mobile site via Safari. After that, press the share icon and then press the "Add to Homescreen" option to add the Facebook icon to your Homescreen. From now on, you'll have to use the Facebook-optimized mobile website to get your groove on.

Another workaround is to use another Facebook app called Paper. It creates a neat magazine-style interface for all your newsfeed content. However, it is not as feature rich as the Facebook app or the mobile website, so keep that in mind.
