DC Comics has released its January 2016 solicitations, and here's a quick rundown of the biggest and most important items to be gleaned from it.

This is everything you need to know.

First, while Dark Knight III: The Master Race continues chugging along, DC is launching five new titles. Techincally they all fall under the heading of "limited series," but if they take off with huge sales, we're betting limited will become ongoing. Each of the five titles seems to provide a new perspective on a popular DC character.

There's The Legend of Wonder Woman, which takes a look back at Diana's youth and formative years. Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion picks up the story of Green Lantern Corps: Lost Army, as the remaining members of the corps have to find their way home.

Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life finds Pamela Isley trying to go the straight-and-narrow by taking a science-focused job at Gotham Botanical Gardens. Suicide Squad Most Wanted: Deadhshot/Katana is a monthly double header, with a new story for both characters sharing time in each issue. Swamp Thing is back with its creator at the helm, Len Wein, who sends the forces of dark magic after the green guy.

Elsewhere, with "Truth" all done, Gene Luen Yang and the rest of the Superman writers are ready to kick off the next act of their de-powered Man of Steel storyline. "The Savage Dawn" brings Vandal Savage into the game, along with some kind of shocking revelations about the villain's connection to Krypton. But the real story is about Clark Kent still trying to get his powers back, and his attempts are growing ever more desperate. How far will he go to be Superman once more?

DC has seen great success with Injustice: Gods Among Us, based on the hit video game. In January it enters its fifth year, and the publisher says this will be the last one. Superman's Regime rules the world with an iron fist, but Batman's resistance is still a threat to his reign. This final year is expected to lead directly into the video game's storyline.
