The HTC One A9 was just announced and is being made available in two storage configurations, 16 GB and 32 GB. HTC has confirmed the 32 GB model will only be available in the U.S.

When images of the HTC One A9 leaked in August, the smartphone had a design that appeared virtually identical to Apple's iPhone 6 series, and it even was pictured next to Apple's former flagship smartphone.

At HTC's press event, the company announced that it would offer the HTC One A9 in two storage/RAM configurations; a 16 GB option with 2 GB of RAM and a 32 GB variant with 3 GB of RAM.

The news confused many people since HTC's website did not make clear which configuration you were buying, so a user reached out to HTC via Twitter to get a definitive answer.

Jeff Gordon, Senior Global Online Communications Manager at HTC, issued a response, which reads, "The version of the HTC One A9 sold in the US is 3 GB RAM/32 GB storage."

Customers interested in the HTC One A9 can now preorder the smartphone via HTC's website and choose a factory unlocked model or an AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint variant for $399.99, which the company claims is a limited time promotional preorder price. It's not clear when or if HTC will jack up the price in the future.

The HTC One A9 features an all-metal case, and its dimensions come in at 145.75 by 70.8 by 7.26 mm and it weighs 143 g. It features a five-inch 1920 by 1080 Full HD Corning Gorilla Glass 4 display with a pixel density of 440 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor and 3 GB of RAM. It ships with 32 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot that will support up to 2 TB microSD cards.

The HTC One A9's camera capabilities consist of a 13 megapixel rear camera with sapphire lens cover, OIS (optical image stabilization) and 4 UltraPixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies. The handset ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and its 2,150 mAh battery will provide up to 16 hours of talk time.
