Jailbreaking may be popular with many iOS buffs as it enables one to bypass the hardware restrictions.

Team Pangu recently released a jailbreak tool for iOS 9 which is gaining popularity among users. However, while one may be able to mod their iOS device and run customized software, jailbreaking has several disadvantages.

Let's take a look at reasons why it is preferable not to jailbreak your iOS 9 device.

Void Warranty

Jailbreaking your iOS 9 device results in the possibility of bricking your iDevice completely. Moreover, jailbreaking is in violation of the End User License Agreement with Apple.

You might completely brick your Apple device. Also, you'll void the official warranty of your Apple device as jailbreaking violates your End User License Agreement with Apple. Jailbreaking nullifies the warranty which offers protection if one's iPad or iPhone breaks down and requires to be fixed. So, if you take your jailbroken iDevice which is bricked for fixing to an Apple Store, nothing can be done under the warranty.

Unstable iOS

Installing jailbreak tools brings the possibility of the tweak interfering with alternate aspects of the OS, which could cause users issues. Jailbreaking iOS 9 could lead to instability which may lead to sudden boots, your device going into Safe Mode etc. While the issues can be fixed by experienced users, it is a hassle nevertheless.

Update to iOS 9.1 Not Possible

Once you've jailbroken your iPhone or iPad running on iOS 9, you may be able to update to iOS 9.0.1 while update to a newer version such as iOS 9.1 will not be possible. One has to be careful of the version's compatibility with the jailbreak.

No Mac Support

Since the jailbreak tool for iOS 9 from Pangu is yet to have a Mac version, jailbreaking your iDevice means access to a Windows machine.

Malware Attacks

Jailbreaking leaves your iDevice exposed to vulnerabilities and makes it a susceptible target for hackers or malware attacks. While downloading apps from reputable sources is fine, the risk of having one's jailbroken device hacked is higher than normal.

Jailbroken devices are frequent targets of malware attacks waged through apps where hackers are able to install malware remotely via third-party apps.

Considering your iDevice contains sensitive data and personal details such as email, passwords and banking apps, a malware attack is the worst nightmare.
