Oculus VR has postponed sales of the Oculus Rift VR headset developer kit in China for the time being, because many folks who bought the device only did so to resell the headset at a higher price. Not surprising, it only proves that they don't call the country "prosperous China" for nothing.

The move came to light after a Chinese customer on Reddit complained that their order was canceled without reason, this forced Kevin Crawford, the head of Oculus VR's customer service, to explain what is happening.

Apparently, there are only limited amounts of the Oculus Rift VR headset available for Chinese developers, and the company doesn't want retailers in the country to take stock away from these developers for the purpose of making a huge profit.

"It is a bummer that we've had to suspend sales in China due to extreme reseller purchases," says Crawford. "We need to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that resellers that are looking to flip our product for a profit are not taking stock away from legitimate developer purchases globally."

Crawford went on to add that Oculus VR is currently looking into legitimate ways to make sure the VR headset gets into the hands of Chinese developers, instead of retailers. How the company plans to do this is currently unknown, but we're guessing it won't be an easy task, and it might take quite a while before developers in China can get their fix.

However, Oculus VR doesn't plan to cancel orders from China; the company just won't be delivering the kits right away.

For those under a rock of some kind or form, Oculus VR is the company behind the critically acclaimed Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset. The device is designed to immerse folks in a virtual 3D world, and it appears this is working out quite well.

Facebook went ahead and purchased Oculus VR for a massive $2 billion back in May, which should put into perspective how important VR has become. Since then, Sony has unveiled its Project Morpheus BR headset, and Google recently revealed its VR developer kit called Project Cardboard, since it was created from a cardboard of all things.
