It's a case of who copied who between Apple and HTC when it comes down HTC's new smartphone and Apple's iPhone. This all started after HTC disclosed the A9, one of its newest Android-based devices.

The device in all seriousness, is a dead look-alike to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S in many respects. However, HTC insists that it is not the one doing the copying here. In fact, HTC claims that it is Apple that copied its designs and not the other way around, a claim we're sure will not sit well with some fans.

"We're not copying," according to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia. "We made a uni-body metal-clad phone in 2013."

"It's Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back," Tong continued.

"The A9 is made thinner and more lightweight than our previous metal-clad phones. This is a change and evolution, and we're not copying." Tong added.

Users may recall in the past when one of HTC executives stated that the A9 is a great alternative to Apple's line of iPhone devices. While that does not prove that HTC has indeed copied Apple's device, it does say a lot when it comes down to where the minds of the designers were at when the A9 was still on the drawing board.

The new HTC A9 is not a powerhouse by any means. It is all about having a solid design that strikes a proper balance between specifications and price. It comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The RAM is around 2GB to 3GB, and everything brings the price up to $400. Not exactly cheap, but for what the HTC A9 offers, we view this as very reasonable.

The argument can be resolved if only folks will accept the A9 for what it is without thinking about the iPhone.Though, that would be difficult since the design of the device just screams iPhone to us.
