Games Workshop's latest update in Warhammer 40,000's 10th Edition recently saw a backlash from fans and gamers, particularly as it added a female representation under the Custodes faction's Codex.

The fans are calling out the game and its developers about this "woke" culture move introduced in the game. Games Workshop is known for fending off its hostile fanbase.

Despite depicting satire in its themes, stories, and more, Warhammer has since separated itself to share the same bigotry, maintaining a community that is safe for all.

The recent introduction of Warhammer 40,000's 10th Edition update brings a new rulebook, a.k.a. Codex, for the Adeptus Custodes faction, now available for pre-order and will ship by April 27.

However, it did not see massive engagements from fans because of the exciting new content it would bring but because of the newly named female Custodian of the faction under the Imperium of Man's forces, dedicated to protecting the God-Emperor.

Calladayce Taurovalia Kesh is the first female Custodes character named in the faction, something gamers argued is not part of the game's main lore or canon.

Toxic Gamers Attack Warhammer, Games Workshop on Female Representation

Right-wing and toxic gamers disputed this against Games Workshop, to which the game developer said that female Custodians were always part of the title "since the first of the Ten Thousand were created."

While this was indeed a retcon, it is something that Games Workshop is working towards, with Warhammer's previous blog post claiming that while its lore or stories are extreme, the game does not promote such ideologies. It was reiterated by the game that "The Imperium is Driven by Hate. Warhammer is Not."

Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000

From the tabletop to the desktopWarhammer 40,000 is one of the most popular games in the world. It offers rich lore to gamers who have since enjoyed the world-building and strategy title.

It offers gamers a chance to lead a faction in this sci-fi experience, centering on massive plots and themes that Game Workshop developers have supplied gamers with for years.

Because of its popularity, the Warhammer franchise is moving towards a new media representation beyond gaming, centering on a series adaptation in partnership with Amazon and Prime Video.

Initially, the British game was rumored to feature English Hollywood actor Henry Cavill to play a certain role in the film, later confirmed by Superman himself.

Amidst the progressive take of Games Workshop for the Warhammer franchise, its community is not exactly on the same page, now disputing the company's decisions towards this new representation.

Games Workshop argued that its new female representation and other gender binary releases are not part of the "woke culture," but are more about widening the community's perception, one where everyone is accepted with evolving plots, stories, and more.
