A new Internet domain for Dawn of War 3 is not only registered, but also freshly updated, hinting at an exciting sequel.
As the name itself suggests, this Dawn of War 3 domain suggests that a sequel to the popular Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II could be in the cards.
As turns out, Sega of America has registered a new domain for Dawn of War 3 and the last update appears to be on Monday, July 6. Another hint, meanwhile, indicates that Dawn of War games developer Relic Entertainment is also involved - the admin, registrant and tech email appear as firstname.lastname@example.org after the latest update.
The real-time strategy game series known as Dawn of War has enjoyed great success so far and the prospect of a new iteration is already stirring impressive interest.
It's worth taking into account, however, the possibility that Sega could simply be securing domains with its latest registration, instead of gearing up for a Dawn of War 3 announcement in the imminent future. The company has made no comment so far in this regards, which means that the next installment in the highly-acclaimed Dawn of War series remains in the rumor state at this point.
As a reminder, the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War launched as a real-time strategy game series for PC, building on the popular Warhammer 40,000 sci-fi series. Set on a fantasy background, the strategy game series involved space marines, special abilities, and various species, with compelling futuristic elements.
Dawn of War 2 made its debut for PC back in 2009, gaining high praise for its intensive action and fantasy galactic environment. The game allows players to choose from an array of heroes, each of them boasting unique special abilities, but also weaknesses. The exciting action aside from base-building has made the game widely popular and Dawn of War fans are eagerly awaiting for a new sequel to take things to the next level. The last major Dawn of War 2 expansion, Retribution, came out in 2011, and it would be about time for a new iteration.
While no official confirmation is available at this point, the new Dawn of War 3 domain registration suggests that a new game sequel could be just around the corner.
