Say goodbye to Atlas, the Boston Dynamics robot that was among the first iterations of a functioning bipedal bot. The company announced that it will be retiring this year.

In Boston Dynamics' release, the company made the robot do its final automation, bidding farewell to the world as it is now sunsetted and will no longer be part of future developments.

The renowned robotics company's Atlas is among its first developments. It is meant to replicate human actions, standing on two legs.

Boston Dynamics released a new video that announced the retirement of Atlas, one of its earliest robots, best known for being a bipedal, humanoid take on these machines.

In the video, Boston Dynamics gave Atlas one last time to shine, showing off its capabilities, skills, and features in obstacle courses that are best known for what humans compete on.

The video perfectly captures the robot's mobility, maneuverability, and intuitiveness in adapting to its environment, including its humanistic expressions when falling down the obstacle.

Additionally, Boston Dynamics took the world down memory lane as it previewed Atlas's early development stages down to its familiar modern form.

Farewell, Atlas, You Will Be Missed

Atlas is known for kickstarting this massive development towards humanoid bots, offering the world massive accomplishments for what could have been, now sunsetting the project moving forward.

From its introduction in 2013, the robot was developed for 11 years until today's retirement announcement.

Toward the end of the video, Boston Dynamics had the robot do a heartfelt wave to the audience, dancing his final dance and doing a Japanese or Korean bow, which bids a farewell to all.

Boston Dynamics Robots

Regarding robotics, Boston Dynamics is one of the most popular companies on the planet to bring its developments and available tech to deliver automated tasks for its owner, which are available for various industries.

One of the very first robots it introduced was Atlas, a humanoid, bipedal bot, which was previously programmed to replicate the Crane Kick from The Karate Kid for Google.

However, the renowned company is also known for creating the famed Spot robot dog, a quadruped machine that can also do automated tasks, including carrying cargo loads, dancing to famous K-Pop songs, or setting up a Christmas tree.

Additionally, from Google, the company has since been acquired by Hyundai for its continued operations under the same Boston Dynamics name.

The massive operations of Boston Dynamics and the introduction of the world to various robotics developments have been closely followed, especially the Atlas bot, which is one of the most popular.

However, the company no longer continues developing, allowing it to say its goodbyes and hang up its humanoid capabilities.
