After the latest interview with Jack Dorsey, he made it clear why he left Bluesky, the social media platform that he founded. He said that he fears it is repeating the mistakes Twitter made.

It is known that Dorsey left Twitter because he did not approve of the centralized internet. Bluesky is the decentralized spinoff of what Twitter could have been if he had not stepped down.

That said, Dorsey has left two social media platforms he created, X, formerly known as Twitter, and Bluesky, and is now recommending another alternative called Nostr.

Dorsey revealed that several events took place in Bluesky which were the reason he left the company, sharing this with Mike Solana of Founders Fund in his latest interview

This interview divulged a lot from Dorsey's standpoint that led to his leaving Bluesky, with several massive reasons that led to his departure and the taking down of his account.

Among those that Dorsey pointed out was Bluesky becoming a corporate entity, and according to Engadget, the company became independent with its board, stocks, and other vestiges.

The original plan was for Twitter to use Bluesky's open-source protocol, but this did not happen, so the new social media platform was created.

However, it also did not go as planned.

Another key reason for Dorsey was the content moderation on Bluesky, something unprecedented from his plans, which changed its landscape, and it was known for its previous bans.

"This is literally repeating all the mistakes we made as a company," said Dorsey.

Dorsey Recommends Nostr as an Alternative

Dorsey initially claimed that Bluesky was the platform he hoped for, a social media that is not Twitter and gave people an alternative to his former platform's mistake.

That being said, the Twitter and Bluesky founder noted that while Nostr is "weird and hard to use," it is a platform that offers a decentralized experience, with him backing it financially.

Jack Dorsey's Social Media Platforms

One could never have too many social media platforms if you were Jack Dorsey (or Meta's Mark Zuckerberg), known for creating these experiences for the world as part of the great internet.

In 2021, it is known that Dorsey stepped down from his role as Twitter's CEO and handed it over to Parag Agrawal, and in the following year, he also exited the Twitter board

It is known that Dorsey took Bluesky with him as a public benefit corporation in 2022 when he exited the board, looking to bring a new kind of social media for all.

The renowned tech executive has previously expressed that he misses the good old days of a decentralized internet, which previously focused on the Usenet and IRC protocols.

The open-source protocol known as Bluesky evolved into a corporate entity that Dorsey wants to avoid getting entangled with again.

Moreover, content moderation was also something Dorsey frowned upon with Bluesky, now going on the path of making Twitter's mistakes, changing what the founder had in mind for a new social media for the public to enjoy.
