Renowned eVTOL company Joby Aviation is moving toward production prototype development and striving for flight certification for its new flying vehicles after achieving a milestone in its testing.

The company recently completed its pre-production prototype testing and is ready to proceed with its mainline production for future flying cars. 

With this next step, Joby Aviation aims to achieve flight certification that future drivers would use, making eVTOL mobility a reality. 

Joby Aviation's eVTOL: Production Prototype Flight Certification Coming

Through this, Joby is inching closer to providing the world with its goals of delivering the first flying car to be used by regular drivers and in cities where it will be approved. 

This also follows the company's recent receipt of the initial funding and grant in California, which will help them with eVTOL production in the U.S.

It also builds on the company's goal to deploy its full-fledged electric air taxi operations, which are slated to begin in 2025, around a year from now.

Joby Aviation Completed Its Testing of Pre-Production eVTOL

The company's plans would not be possible if it had not completed its testing of the pre-production prototypes of its eVTOL, one that is successful in its end.

It previously took a cross-city tour of New York and demonstrated how a human pilot successfully flew Joby's eVTOL over the buzzing Big Apple, with over 100 flights operated by its test flyers. 

Joby's eVTOLs that completed the tests used its 2nd full-scale generation vehicles from the company.

Joby Aviation completed its first test flights in the city in October 2023 and focused on human-piloted testing, which took its eVTOL across the metro.

 Before this, Joby conducted remote testing of its eVTOL vehicles from its ground control stations (GCS). However, its latest development launched with a person flying the machine and demonstrating its capabilities. 

Joby's electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles are intended for public use. They would help avoid traffic and allow humans to travel overhead for their transportation needs. 

However, Joby also supplied its electric air taxis to the US Air Force and NASA, offering more of its developments to government agencies for air mobility experiences. 

The world envisioned that the future would also involve flying cars as a mode of transportation to go around the city or across the country and beyond roads.

Joby Aviation is ready to take it to the next level after its recent flight testing completion, moving forward with production prototype flight certifications that would take the world closer to this real flying car experience.
