With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 just days away, Treyarch offered one more livestream of the game to keep the hype high. And to maximize its chances of pleasing the crowd, the developer showed off the latest iteration of the fan-favorite map.

Nuketown first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops and then returned in the futuristic Black Ops 2, which was, or is, set in 2025. This latest version of Nuketown is set in 2065.

Treyarch tipped the release of the re-imagined map back in August, which is now dubbed Nuk3town. This new Nuk3town has been thoughtfully reworked to cater to Black Ops 3's momentum-based, chained-movement system, according to Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia.

"The Nuketown maps have a special place in Call of Duty multiplayer history and we can't wait to build upon that heritage in Black Ops III," said Lamia. "We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place."

While Black Ops 3 will hit current and last gen hardware, Nuk3town will only be available on current gen consoles and PC. Nuketown won't be the only thing missing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of the game.

Back in September, Treyarch announced that there will be no campaign on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version of the game. Activision cut the price of the last-gen versions to $50 and included a free copy of the first Black Ops games for those who pre-ordered the third installment.

"Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority. The studios behind the development of Black Ops 3 are focused on delivering the highest quality gameplay on all platforms," publisher Activision stated on the Call of Duty site.

Along with no story mode, the last-gen versions of the game will also be missing the new weapons paint show and the all-new eSports tools that will be key as Activision launches its own Call of Duty eSports league alongside Black Ops 3.
