The iPhone 7 Plus, one of Apple's next flagship devices, is expected to be powered by 3 GB worth of RAM and an A10 CPU, according to well-connected KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The latest details that Kuo obtained from suppliers of Apple were published in a research note released by KGI, a copy of which was acquired by Apple Insider. In the research note, Kuo said that while the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will be powered by 2 GB of RAM, similar to the iPhone 6s, the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will be adding another gigabyte to its RAM for improved performance.

However, even with the expected difference in RAM for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, both smartphones are said to be featuring next-generation mobile processor architecture by Apple, which will likely be named the A10 processor.

One of the major factors that have differentiated the Plus models from their smaller counterparts, in addition to the larger size, is the improved camera systems. Both the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus packed its hardware with optical image stabilization features, which were not present in the smaller versions of the flagship devices. It is expected that the iPhone 7 Plus will continue this differentiation of having a better camera compared to the iPhone 7.

The report also said that the iPhone 7 will likely launch in September next year, in line with the annual pattern of release of new smartphones for Apple. Apple is also expected to reveal an upgraded external design for the next version of the iPhone, but Kuo did not disclose any details on what these changes could be in the report.

Kuo, however, claimed that Apple is still currently working on a revamped 4-inch iPhone that resembled an upgraded iPhone 5s, with an A9 processor powering the smartphone. According to Kuo, the plastic design of the iPhone 5c will be replaced with a metal casing for the upcoming 4-inch iPhone, which will not be featuring 3D touch technology. The device is expected to launch in the first half of next year, with expected sales of between 20 million and 30 million units.

Another trusted source for Apple expectations and predictions, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, recently said that the iPhone 7 will undergo a dramatic redesign, with changes coming to the home button, display, and other aspects.
