If you are a fan of slasher films, then you probably have already heard that a Friday the 13th video game is currently in the works, allowing, for the first time, gamers to play as none other than Jason Voorhees himself.

In a partnership between developers Gun Media and Crystal Lake Entertainment, the popular franchise is heading back to the world of video games for the first time in more than 25 years.

Titled Friday the 13th: The Game, the team over at Gun Media is crowdfunding its development through a Kickstarter campaign that will wrap up in eight days.

While the announcement trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game got us pumped up for its fall 2016 release, Gun Media graciously blessed us with a little more than a minute's worth of video that will surely get your heart racing in anticipation for more.

The pre-alpha footage features a series of fly-through shots taken in-engine that makes the viewer feel like they are staying at the famous camp.

Friday the 13: The Game is an online multiplayer title that allows one player to stalk the camp counselors and hunt for fresh meat as Jason, while seven other players take on the role of potential victims that must try to survive the night.

The footage reveals just how much Camp Crystal Lake mirrors the films. The tour reveals the game features log cabins, dark trails lit mostly by the moon that lead to the dock over the water where little Jason drowned and fire pits just screaming to roast marshmallows over. It looks like the perfect place for the hockey mask-wearing killer to hunt down innocent souls.

The Kickstarter campaign has currently received $621,162 of its $700,000 goal.

Explore Camp Crystal Lake in the fly-through below, and make sure to look out for the game when it's released next year for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
