With all the hype surrounding Star Wars this year, it's hard to believe that the film finally releases just next month. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't any secrets and plot twists planned that will still surprise those who see the film, and that means that there are still several characters fans know little about.

One of those characters is the mysterious Constable Zuvio. However, a new image released of the character by Empire attempts to solve some of the secrecy around him.

The image is pretty basic and shows the Constable in costume, complete with a background that makes it appear that this particular scene occurs on Jakku, a desert planet. However, other details are notably absent. Who is Constable Zuvio and what is his role in the story of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

What little fans know of the character comes from the official description from Lucasfilm: he is a "vigilant law officer on a mostly lawless world" who "keeps order in a frontier trading post" and is "tough and humorless."

However, there is still no mention of the actor portraying the character or how much he appears in the movie.

Most of this information is also available on the back of the Constable Zuvio action figure, which appeared on eBay in August.

Meanwhile, other details about The Force Awakens emerged into the light of day with the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which featured some background information on the movie, as well as special edition covers featuring other characters — Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn and R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Director J.J. Abrams also recently commented that The Force Awakens is its own standalone film and has a self-contained story, making it accessible to new fans of the franchise.

"We wanted to tell a story that had its own self-contained beginning, middle, and end but at the same time, like A New Hope, implied a history that preceded it and also hinted at a future to follow," said Abrams to Wired. "When Star Wars first came out, it was a film that both allowed the audience to understand a new story but also to infer all sorts of exciting things that might be. In that first movie, Luke wasn't necessarily the son of Vader, he wasn't necessarily the brother of Leia, but it was all possible."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens lands in theaters on Dec. 18.
