The Pyro mini is a "fireshooter" from online magic trick manufacturer and retailer Ellusionist that's basically a surprisingly small little flamethrower that straps to your wrist. The gadget takes a fairly common magician's trick and packs it into a device that charges via USB. Besides, who doesn't want to shoot flames on command?

How does it work? The mini comes with two barrels that are filled with a special tissue paper, used in lots of magical pyrotechnics, that burns really fast. When the paper launches out of the barrels lit, it burns so quickly that all the naked eye really catches is the fireball.

The Pyro mini is, as the name sounds, just a smaller version of last year's Pyro gadget. According to Ellusionist, it's managed to make it more than 50 percent smaller. Other than the size, the mini now charges via USB rather than relying on batteries like its larger sibling. Any magician in a hurry can make sure they can throw fire by keeping it topped off from their car, computer, or anything else that has a USB port.

Another innovation over the previous model is the two barrels, which are individually triggered by remote or trigger. That means it can fire two fireballs at once, from the wrist strap (which is also new) or up to 30 feet away from the user with help from an antenna that plugs into the remote.

As the company notes, this is a doodad that shoots actual fire and is therefore potentially dangerous when not used in an appropriate manner. The "appropriate manner" here being "sweet finishes to card tricks." It's meant to create neat flourishes for sleight of hand, not burning things. Anyone looking to play with fire just to play with fire should probably stick to camping.

The Pyro mini is currently available to purchase online from Ellusionist for $147. That price includes "1 Bundle of Flash Cotton and 10 Large Sheets of Flash Paper," which equates to between 60 and 80 shots total. That's a whole lot of fireballs.
