We haven't seen much of HTC where Windows Phones are concerned since the days of the HTC 8X and 8S. However, that might all change as new reports claim the company is working on a Windows Phone 8.1 version of the One (M8).

HTC released the One (M8) this year, an Android device that was designed beautifully and is said to be better device than the Galaxy S5, though it didn't show in sales numbers.

The rumors of the Windows Phone 8.1 version of the HTC One (M8) came from Microsoft watcher, Tom Warren on Twitter. He tweeted that the company is currently working on the device, and it should see the light of day before the end of the year.

We've heard rumors about a sister version to the One (M8) for quite some time now since the introduction of the first device, yet nothing panned out. However, in the recently held Computex trade show back in June of this year, Microsoft said we should expect big things from HTC later in the year, which gave us the impression that HTC is working on something special for Windows Phone fans.

A version of the HTC One (M8) with Windows Phone installed would be a boon for fans, as the device metal body is such a sight for sore eyes. A beautiful design is rare in the land of Android, and mainly seen with Lumia devices, and the iPhone.

Chances are; this device could help improve Windows Phone 8 sales as the operating system is still growing at a rapid pace. With version 8.1, Windows Phone has caught up with Android and iOS in key areas, and all it needs right now is a compelling device to get new users on board.

HTC need a boost

HTC is a company that focuses much on Android, but despite being second to Samsung in the market, the company has failed to come close to the amount of profit Samsung is making; hence it needs to look elsewhere to make up for the loss.

However, we're not certain if HTC will be able to make an impact by focusing more on Windows Phone 8 since the ruling manufacturer is Microsoft with over 90 percent market share.
