LG might unveil the LG G5 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona in February, according to a recently surfaced rumor.

This year alone, the company rolled out the LG G4 in April and the V10 in October. The G4 turned a couple of heads because of its impressive hardware specifications and interchangeable back cover, with choices that range from leather to soft textured materials. Not to be left out, the V10 took the market by storm because of its unique design with a secondary screen, Dura Guard frame and Dura Skin material.

Now, not much is known about the LG G5 yet, and the name is only believed to follow the company's naming convention, so without an official word from LG yet, all are just assumptions based on leaks and hearsay.

The upcoming flagship is expected to sport a 5.6-inch display with a 1,440 x 2,560 resolution, packing in a crisp 525ppi approximately. It'll be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM to boot, and it will be fitted with either a 3,000 or 3,500mAh battery pack that supports Fast Charge.

For the handset's rear camera, there's a big chance it will have a 21-megapixel sensor along with laser autofocus, dual-LED flash and OIS features and the ability to capture 4K videos. As for the front, it'll have an 8-megapixel sensor that supports 1080p videos.

To top them all off, the device could be equipped with iris recognition technology developed by IRIENCE, a biometrics company based in South Korea. Some also believe that the LG G5 could have a fingerprint scanner at the back as well.

It would be interesting to see all these specs and features crammed in the LG G5, but it would be more interesting to see if it will inherit the features that make its predecessors stand out from the competition.

What's notable about this report is the February premiere, as the LG G4 was announced in April. This could be an aggressive attempt of the smartphone maker to go against Samsung, one of its biggest competitors.
