Bible VRX is the first ever virtual reality app that allows users to experience scenes from the Bible in a virtual format.

Officially known as the Bible Virtual Reality Experience, the app is designed with cutting edge VR technology that brings users right in the heart of the greatest stories ever told in the Bible. Users can enjoy a truly immersive experience and see the stories come to life right before their eyes.

"Stand on the field as David takes on Goliath, kneel beside Daniel in the depth of the lion's den, or witness the parting of the Red Sea with Moses. With Bible VRX we place the viewer right in the center of the action with full 360-degree range of view," said Bible VRX.

The app can be downloaded in both iOS and Android devices. Once it's installed, the user can place his handset in any compatible Google Cardboard headset.

"This app is built to work with Google Cardboard 2.0 (or compatible VR headsets) for the full VR experience," said iTunes.

The idea about creating the app began in the summer when Derek Ham, the app's developer, suddenly thought about using virtual reality to bring the scenes from the Bible back to life.

Ham, who has a PhD in Design Computation from MIT, said that he worked more than three months on creating the app. The result is a "light version" of Bible VRX, which he hopes will develop in the future as a full library of Biblical scenes that use virtual reality.

"I thought it's time to use technology to disrupt traditional methods of Bible based media," said Ham. "You can't imagine the number of sleepless nights I spent working on it - to put the prototype together."

As Christmas is just around the corner, users can also hold a Google Cardboard viewer and witness the scene of the Nativity when baby Jesus was born.

Ham is seeking for some funding to add more features to Bible VRX such as music, narration and animated effects. He also hopes to develop the company's own customer viewer in the near future.

"This app is the first to harness VR technology to promote Biblical literary," added the description on iTunes. "It creates an immersive experience and brings a new level of engagement to the word of God."

Users can now download the app from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. To get a better idea of what it entails, check out the video below.
