After Airtel boldly entered the movie and music streaming business, the carrier now wants a slice of the mobile gaming market niche as well.

The biggest Indian mobile carrier established a foothold in the streaming world with its services Wynk Movies and Wynk Music and it recently announced the release of Wynk Games, its mobile gaming platform.

The app is in beta trials right now, and it already offers more than 2,000 global and local games. Not only does it host a large number of games, but it covers multiple genres, such as sports, racing, cricket, cards, adventure, puzzles, and kids games.

Crafted to be a platform that hosts a myriad of games, users can get Wynk Games for Android from the company's website. Big names in the gaming development subscribed, so users can find titles from Bulkypix, Hungama, Square Enix, Reliance Big Entertainment, Thumbstar, Nautilus Mobile, Tresensa and Zeptolab.

Fans of mobile gaming will be happy to know that titles such as Real Cricket, Real Steel, Chhota Bheem and The Throne of Bali and Chhota Bheem Jungle Run are part of Wynk Games.

The player who opens the app meets a user interface divided into three panes: Trending, Latest, and Categories.

Although it is pretty self-explanatory, the Categories area groups games after their genre: users may peruse through titles that fit into specific areas such as Strategy & Simulation, Role Playing, Racing or Cricket.

Gamers who are curious about the latest additions should check out the Latest section, whereas those who want to keep up with other gamers should visit the Trending section.

"By subscribing to 'Wynk Games', customers can enjoy a host of games at no additional cost - this includes many games that are typically found as 'paid' elsewhere," CEO of Wynk, Bharti Airtel, Kartik Sheth, declared at the platform's launch.

He went on to add that Wynk Games departs from the practices of competing companies that offer some levels for free and then charge for the rest of the content.

'Wynk Games' does away with all these challenges and allows customers to enjoy complete games," Sheth pointed out.

Borrowing from the previous experience with Wynk Music and Wynk Movies, a big plus for Wynk Games comes from the fact that the service is ad-free and subscription based.

Users who already have Airtel Internet data packs will have access to Wynk Games' subscription for no additional cost. Other users may enjoy the platform for Rs 99/month ($1.49/month). As long as the beta testing lasts, a special offer of Rs 29/month ($0.44/month) is live.

To activate the service, Airtel customers can pay directly from their Airtel account (prepaid balance or postpaid bill. Alternatively, the subscription may be purchased via iPayy and Paytm.

One great feature of the platform is that users may download the games and play them offline, when they have no access to Internet.

Wynk Games mentioned the importance of its cooperation with the San Mateo-based company, Playphone, which has 10 years of experience in mobile social gaming. The Indian company noted that Playphone's expertize will help Wynk Games extend its reach.

"This partnership is important, as it brings together our technology and the digital skills of Wynk," said Playphone CEO, Ron Czerny.

He went on to add that the partnership between Wynk Games and Playphone will create the "ultimate gaming destination" for Indian users.

Developers who want to see their titles on the Indian gaming platform can do so easily, by adding only 10 lines of code to their mobile games.

"The market has shown tremendous response to Wynk services so far, thus building a compelling case for us to venture into the ever popular gaming category," Sheth affirmed.
