For anyone who's been anxiously awaiting the day when the popular animated series Gravity Falls would air its finale, well, there’s still some waiting to be done. However, there’s an official air date now!

According to Variety, Disney XD has confirmed that the final episode of the show will air Feb. 15, 2016.

For those only now tuning in, Gravity Falls follows the exploits of Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins, as they go to visit their Grunkle Stan for summer vacation in the town of Gravity Falls. Unfortunately for them, there’s all kinds of supernatural, strange and downright weird stuff going on in the town — and being on the edge of puberty doesn’t tend to do them any favors.

The show first began airing in 2012, and has developed a strong following online despite its sometimes erratic airing schedule. Creator Alex Hirsch shocked fans by revealing in November that the show would officially be ending after season two — with only two more episodes to go in said season. Even more shocking? He’d always intended for it to end sooner rather than later.

"The first thing to know is that the show isn't being cancelled — it's being finished. This is 100 percent my choice, and its [sic] something I decided on a very long time ago," Hirsch said in a post at the time. "I always designed Gravity Falls to be a finite series about one epic summer — a series with a beginning, middle, and end. There are so many shows that go on endlessly until they lose their original spark, or mysteries that are cancelled before they ever get a chance to pay[ ]off."

Without spoiling anything, the one-hour series finale — “Weirdmageddon: Part 3” — wraps up an ongoing storyline featuring a, as the name itself implies, weird armageddon. It’s unclear where the greater Pines family and friends will be left at that point, but after that, the show is done.
